GrowCod Project

My visit to Bodø was funded by the YGGDRASIL Mobility Program with a research project on “The role of DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferases in the epigenetic regulation of sexual maturation and growth in Atlantic cod”.

The idea of this project was from Dr. Jorge Fernandes, my supervisor for this research. The aim was to study the molecular mechanisms behind the effects of photoperiod manipulation on the premature sexual maturation in cod (Gadus morhua) by correlating DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferases (DNMTs) and photoperiod treatment.

During the period that I spent in Bodø for this project, I have met a lot of nice people who have been my friends inside and outside the laboratory. I enjoyed the multiethnicity of the place, thus, allowing me to get to know other cultures from the different parts of the world and this has enormously enriched me.
